Big Box Retail

At this scale, install time per bay is the whole business case.

A merchandising change that takes twenty minutes a bay is a different project across four hundred stores than one that takes a minute. Repeatability, freight and install time decide a big box programme long before the fixture specification does.

The constraint

Multiply everything by the store count, then decide.

Every decision in a chain programme carries a multiplier. Ten extra minutes per bay becomes weeks of labour. An assembled fixture instead of a knocked-down one becomes a freight line nobody budgeted for. A finish that cannot be matched in phase three becomes a floor that looks patched.

That is why NuPanel exists. Retrofitting the gondolas already on the floor — replacing the pegboard back with 1″ aluminum slatwall in about a minute a bay, with a clip system and no drilling — fits inside overnight windows and leaves the structure you already own in place.

Where new fixtures are genuinely needed, they ship knocked down for the same reason: at four hundred stores, freight volume is a real number.

What we would specify

Retrofit where you can, replace where you must.

Most big box floors have far more sound gondola structure than they have failing fixtures.

Detail that matters here

Three things a chain programme has to get right.

Consistency across phases

Finishing is done in our own plant rather than subcontracted, so later phases are matched against the same in-house process. Flag it at quoting stage and we plan the runs for it.

Pilot before commitment

One store, measured over a trading period, tells you more than any projection. We would rather price a pilot than talk you into a chain.

Site-by-site variation

Bulkheads and column positions differ. Custom lengths and heights are routine, so a programme can run one standard spec plus a handful of variants.

Good to know

Common questions from big box retail buyers

Megawall products are in most major retailers across North America, and the plant runs from single-part prototyping to large-scale production. Tell us the store count and the phasing and we will plan production against it rather than quoting a fixture in isolation.
Powder coating and clear coats are applied in our own plant rather than subcontracted, so later phases are matched against the same in-house process. If exact cross-phase consistency is critical, say so at quoting stage and we will plan the production runs accordingly.
Because at chain scale you are paying to move air. Megawall fixtures ship knocked down as standard specifically to keep multi-site freight sensible.
At roughly a minute per bay with a clip system and no drilling, retrofits generally fit inside overnight windows — which is the difference between a programme that runs and one that keeps getting deferred.
Yes, and we recommend it. One store measured over a trading period tells you what the change does to sales per linear foot far more reliably than a model.

Ready to start

Give us the store count and the phasing.

We will plan production against it and price a pilot store first, so the chain is committed on measured evidence rather than a forecast.
