V-Wall

A display system that is invisible until something hangs on it.

A patented aluminum extrusion built to be embedded in 5/8″ drywall rather than fixed to the front of it. Face it with laminate or vinyl and the wall reads as a wall — until a ¼″ glass shelf appears to float out of it.

The idea

The section drawing explains this faster than any paragraph.

The extrusion sits inside the drywall thickness. The finish face runs over it. What the customer sees is a wall; what the merchandiser gets is a full display system.

Conventional slatwall — including Megawall’s own steel and aluminum systems — is a panel on the face of a wall. That is exactly what you want in most retail, and exactly what you do not want in a boutique, a gallery-style showroom or a flagship where the architecture is doing the selling.

V-Wall inverts it. The aluminum extrusion is set into 5/8″ drywall so its profile sits within the wall build-up. Combined with a laminate or vinyl facing, the system reads as a plain finished surface. Then it accepts standard slatwall fixtures, or a ¼″ slip-in acrylic or glass shelf, and the merchandise appears to be supported by nothing at all.

Add LED strip lighting into the same detail and you have the effect most high-end retail interiors are trying to buy.

Where it belongs

Specify V-Wall when the wall is part of the brand.

Boutique and flagship

Where the interior is doing as much selling as the product, and a visible slat grid would undercut it.

Showrooms and galleries

Floating glass shelves with concealed support, lit from the same detail — the standard treatment for high-value goods.

Branded office and reception

Display capability in a space that must read as architecture rather than retail fixture.

Common questions about V-Wall

It is designed to be embedded in 5/8" drywall rather than fixed to the face of it. Combined with a laminate or vinyl facing, the extrusion conceals in the wall surface, so the wall reads as a finished wall rather than as a display system until something is hung on it.
Standard slatwall fixtures, plus ¼" slip-in acrylic or glass shelves — which is the detail most designers specify it for, because a glass shelf appearing to float out of a plain wall is the whole effect.
Yes. V-Wall is compatible with LED strip lighting, which is generally how the floating-shelf effect gets finished in high-end retail.
96 inches — 8 feet — as standard, in a raw mill finish. Custom lengths are available.
Yes. V-Wall is a patented Megawall display system, one of two patented systems the company has introduced since the late 1980s.
No, but that is what it is for. Left exposed in the raw mill finish it works as a conventional extrusion; faced with laminate or vinyl it disappears, which is the reason to specify it over a standard aluminum panel.
